PHILADELPHIA -- Jason Peters will protect the quarterbacks blind side for quite a while longer in Philadelphia. Willie Mays Jersey . The All-Pro left tackle agreed to a five-year contract with the Eagles on Wednesday. Peters was signed for 2014, and his new deal adds four years through 2018. Overall, the contract is worth about $50 million. "They didnt want to risk losing me and I didnt want to go anywhere, and I let them know that," Peters said. "I want to retire here. I love this organization. I love Philly." The feeling is mutual. "There arent many people cut from the same cloth as Jason Peters," coach Chip Kelly said. "To be able to bounce back from two Achilles injuries and return to an All-Pro level speaks not only to his incredible athleticism, but proves just how hard he works at his game. Having him at left tackle provides a lot of comfort to our quarterback and to our entire offence. Hes a guy that many players look up to in our locker room." The 32-year-old Peters is a six-time Pro Bowl pick and two-time All-Pro. Peters missed the entire 2012 season after twice rupturing an Achilles tendon, but he returned to anchor an offensive line that helped the Eagles lead the NFL in rushing. All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy ran for a franchise-best 1,607 yards, and Pro Bowl quarterback Nick Foles had a breakout year behind Peters and Co. "I told yall I was at 100 per cent coming into the season," Peters said. "I felt very good. They obviously think (Im worth it) or they wouldnt have given me the contract. Im definitely going to live up to it." The Eagles appear set on their offensive line. Lane Johnson, a first-round pick last year, played well as a rookie at right tackle. Left guard Evan Mathis was an All-Pro, centre Jason Kelce is one of the top centres in the league, and right guard Todd Herremans is signed through 2016. Peters is the cornerstone. "Jason is everything you look for in a left tackle," general manager Howie Roseman said. "The unique blend of size, speed and athleticism that Jason possesses is something that everyone wants in an offensive lineman. However, what really makes him unique is his desire to improve day in and day out despite the fact that hes played at an elite level for so many years. We are truly rewarding Jasons excellence." Peters was an undrafted free agent signed by Buffalo and converted from tight end. He played his first five seasons with the Bills before coming to Philadelphia in a trade in 2009 and establishing himself as one of the premier left tackles in the NFL. Now hes already being talked about as a Hall of Fame candidate with several years left in his career. "I got a $5,000 signing bonus in Buffalo," Peters said. "I never thought this would happen. I believed in myself. This is a dream come true." Buster Posey Jersey . Its been two seasons in one for both parties and neither will look back on the first 18 games fondly. "I think I took the fall for a lot of things," said Gay, reflecting on his short time in Toronto ahead of Wednesdays game against his former club. Johnny Cueto Jersey . - This is just the warm-up act for 18-year-old William Nylander.ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jon Singleton homered among three hits and drove in four runs, Marwin Gonzalez had a bases-loaded triple and the Houston Astros snapped a seven-game skid with a 12-7 victory over the Texas Rangers on Monday night. Gonzalezs triple followed five consecutive singles in a six-run second inning, and Singletons towering flyball landed two rows above the Texas bullpen in right-centre for a three-run shot and a 9-2 lead in the fourth. Jarred Cosart (9-6) won for the first time in 12 career starts against AL West opponents despite allowing nine hits and six runs -- five earned -- in five innings. Every Houston batter had at least one hit after George Springers infield single with one out in the fourth. Singleton followed with his sixth homer to knock out Texas starter Miles Mikolas (0-1), who gave up 12 hits and nine runs in 3 1-3 innings. Adrian Beltre extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI double in the third inning and a solo homer in the fifth that pulled the Rangers to 9-6. Beltres team-leading 12th home run came an inning after Elvis Andrus three-run double down the left field line. Houston relievers Josh Fields and Tony Sipp kept the Rangers from getting any closer, combining to strike out seven in a row starting in the sixth, when Texas trailed 10-6. The streak included Jake Smolinski in his major league debut for Texas in the seveenth. Custom San Francisco Giants Jerseys. The Rangers lost for the 16th time in 19 games since they were 35-35 after winning a series opener in Oakland to get within seven games of the As last month. Texas, a playoff contender the past four seasons, started the day 17 games behind Oakland and finished it just two ahead of last-place Houston. Singleton had the first of the five straight singles and reached base four times, capped by an RBI double in the eighth. Carlos Corporan also had three hits as the Astros finished with a season-high 17. Alex Presley hit his fifth homer -- a solo shot in the sixth -- and was one of four Houston players with two hits. He had to come out after the 10th pitch of an at-bat in the eighth inning when he appeared to injure his right side on a swing. Pinch-hitter L.J. Hoes had a sacrifice fly to right on the first pitch he saw. NOTES: Jose Altuve tied Houstons franchise record for hits before the All-Star break at 123 on an infield single in the fourth. The play was originally ruled an out before Porter challenged. The replay clearly showed Altuve was safe, tying Bob Watsons record from 1973. Altuve broke the record with a single in the eighth. ... Rangers RHP Nick Martinez was scratched from Tuesdays start because of a pulled muscle in his rib cage. SEATTLE -- Oft-injured Mariners centre fielder Franklin Gutierrez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring Tuesday, two days after coming off the 60-day DL for the same thing. Sven Ulreich Jersey . Dustin Ackley was called up from Triple-A Tacoma as Gutierrezs replacement. The 30-year-old Gutierrez has played in just 18 games this season, hitting .267 with four doubles, five home runs and 11 RBIs. He had been on the disabled list from April 23-June 21. He came off Saturday and hit a home run in his first at-bat. Gutierrez played in only 40 games last year and 92 in 2011 because of various injuries. "Im disappointed, like we all are," manager Eric Wedge said of Gutierrez. "No one is more disappointed than he is. Im sure the frustration is just off the charts for him. "When he does play for us, were a better ballclub." Ackley, the second pick in the 2009 draft who was sent down to Tacoma on May 26, hit .365 with eight doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs in 25 games. Hes been a second baseman most of his major league career, but also played the outfield at Tacoma. "He has earned it," Wedge said. "You look at his at-bats, his consistency. He has taken care of some things mentally and put them behind him." Ackley hit just .205 with four doubles, one home run and eight RBI in his previous 45 games this season with the big club. Xabi Alonso Jersey . There were no real chances until Augsburg broke the deadlock through Raul Bobadilla in the 33rd minute. Frankfurt failed to clear a cross and Bobadilla slotted home from close range at the far post. Joshua Kimmich Jersey . "Im proud, obviously. "The seasons been started now for a couple of weeks and Ive not featured at Villa.Morgantown, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - Juwan Staten and Devin Williams each scored 18 points, and the 18th-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers survived a wild overtime period to beat the TCU Horned Frogs 86-85 on Saturday. With seven seconds to go in the extra period, Daxter Miles Jr. hit a go-ahead 3-point shot for the Mountaineers to give them their first lead since regulation, but Trey Zeigler put TCU back on top by hitting a jumper with a second left. Jevon Carter then got behind the Horned Frogs defense on the inbounds pass, and after being fouled attempting a layup as time expired, hit a pair of free throws to send West Virginia to the win. Williams pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and Staten handed out 12 assists. Jonathan Holton added 15 points and eight boards for the Mountaineers (16-3, 4-2 Big 12). TCU (14-5, 1-5) received a game-high 22 points from Kyan Anderson, but it was his foul that sent Carter to the line for the winning free throws. Charles Hill Jr. chipped in 13 points and Kenrich Williams and Amric Fields each contributed 11. Chase Connors 3-pointer with nine minutes to play in the second half extended West Virginias lead to 58-50, but the Horned Frogs went on an 8-0 run to draw even for the first time in the second half. Hills triple cut their deficit to four, and a pull-up jumper from Chris Washburn tied the game with 6:23 left. After the teams traded leads several times late in regulation, Zeigler penetrated and hit a jumper to put TCU up 72-70 with eight seconds to play. At the otther end, Miles fought through contact and had just enough on his layup to tie the game. James Rodriguez Jersey. Zeigler almost found Anderson streaking into the frontcourt with a long inbounds pass, but it ended up out of bounds to give the Mountaineers one more chance. Devin Williams received the ball in the paint, but missed the layup as time expired. Karviar Shepherds dunk on the first possession of OT gave the Frogs an early advantage, and they led by as many as five when Anderson hit a 3-pointer with 1:20 to go to make the score 80-75. Miles first triple of overtime pulled West Virginia within 82-81 with 30 seconds left, and Kenrich Williams only hitting 1-of-2 from the line at the other end gave the Mountaineers life before Miles go-ahead trey. Devin Williams dunk with a little more than two minutes to go in the first half gave West Virginia its largest lead of the game at 34-25. The Horned Frogs went into the locker room on a 10-2 run, however, to trail 36-35 at the break. Anderson scored eight of those points, including a 3-pointer from just inside halfcourt before the shot clock expired. PHILADELPHIA -- After erasing nearly a half-century of road playoff frustration, a trip to Seattle shouldnt be intimidating for Drew Brees, Shayne Graham and the New Orleans Saints. Custom New Orleans Saints Jerseys . Grahams 32-yard field goal, the fourth of the game for the recent addition to the team, won the wild-card game on the final play, 26-24 over the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday night. Brees, who threw for a touchdown and guided the 34-yard drive to the winning kick, didnt need to be a big star because the Saints running game and defence -- along with Grahams leg -- provided the heroics. "Its just, man, believing in each other, ignoring what everyone else has to say," Brees said. New Orleans had been 0-5 in post-season games outside of the Big Easy since entering the league in 1967. The Saints (12-5) will play at NFC top-seed Seattle next Saturday; they lost there 34-7 in the regular season. "Its loud, its crazy, theyve got a good thing going there," Brees said of the next challenge. "Obviously, theyve only lost one game there in the last two years. But having been there less than a month ago, I think that serves us well, what to expect, how to prepare for it. "But were going to need our best game, thats for sure." This was not their best offensive game, by far. But Graham, now with his 10th team after being signed by the Saints just over two weeks ago to replace long-time kicker Garrett Hartley, also connected from 36, 46 and 35 yards. "I didnt feel an ounce of fear," the 13-year veteran said. "If I had been here for 14 years or for one game, my job is the same. I feel like Ive been adopted into a family." Brees threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Lance Moore, Mark Ingram rushed for 97 yards and another score, and the Saints defence slowed Chip Kellys up-tempo offence just enough. The Eagles wound up 10-7 in Kellys first year as coach. He guided them from worst to first in the NFC East, but they were only 4-5 at home. "I didnt think winning the division was a surprise to us and were disappointed we didnt move forward," Kelly said. Nick Foles hit rookie Zach Ertz for a 3-yard touchdown with 4:54 remaining as Philadelphia rallied from a 13-point deficit to take a one-point lead. But Darren Sproles had a 39-yard kickoff return and a horse-collar tackle brought New Orleans to the Philadelphia 48. Using mostly runs, the Saints ate up the clock and set up Grahams winner. "We know what were all about," Brees said. "This was a great testament to that. Coming on the road, hostile environment, great team, one of the hottest teams in football and getting one of those big victories." Two teams with prolific offences couldnt get on track for much of the game. Grahams 46-yarder as the first half ended made it 7-6 as everyone wondered where all the offensive fireworks went. The teams combined for an average of 816.7 yards and 53.5 points per game during the regular season. When Riley Cooper, who earlier scored Philadelphias first touchdown, had a huge drop in the third quarter, the Saints immediately made Philly pay. A 66-yard drive highlighted by Benjamin Watsons 27-yard reception led to Ingrams TD from the 4 for a 20-7 lead. Thats when the Eagles finally made a dynamic play with the ball, DeSean Jacksons leaping 40-yard catch over Corey White. NFL rushing leader LeSean McCoy scored from the 1 on fourth down to make things close. Jackson helped make it closer with a 29-yard punt return that set up Alex Henerys 31-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, cutting the Saints lead to 20-17. Another 40-yard completion, from Brees to seldom-used Robert Meachem, led to Grahams 35-yard field goal, setting up the frantic finish. Jackson was the central figure in setting up Ertzs go-ahead score, drawing a 40-yard pass interference call on the beleaguered White. But Brees then guided the winning drive, disappointing Foles, who went to the same Texas high school as Brees and wears the same No. 9. "This doesnt feel good," said Foles, who led the NFL in passer rating and was 8-3 as a starter. "We wanted to keep playing. Its tough to lose. It hurts. But were going to keep building." Meanwhile, the Saints move on with confidence in a defence that held the NFLs top rushing offence to 80 yards -- McCoy had just 77 -- and their own ground game, which gained 185 without injured Pierre Thomas. "Just the fact they had confidence in me to carry the load, it says a lot," Ingram said. "People are going to talk, youll always have critics, have doubters. But my teammates know I go out there and bust my tail every day and thats all that matters." NOTES: Brees finished 20 for 30 for 250 yards and was picked off twice in the first half. ... Foles was 23 of 33 for 195 yards. ... Eagles TE Brent Celek injured his neck, but could have returned had the Eagles gotten the ball back late in the fourth quarter. ... New Orleans cornerback Keenan Lewis suffered a head injury in the third quarter and didnt return. Marshon Lattimore Jersey . Winning more at home probably should be on the list. The 44-year-old Matthew had a 5-under 67 to reach 13-under 131 on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails Crossings Course. The 18-year-old Hull also shot 67. Matthew had six birdies and a bogey -- on the par-4 ninth -- in her afternoon round. "I played actually probably pretty well today," said Matthew, who opened with a 64 on Thursday. "I hit 17 greens, so I gave myself a lot of chances. I didnt hole many on the front nine, but then the putter got going a little bit on the back nine." The Scot won the last of her four LPGA Tour titles in 2011. "Obviously, theres still 36 holes to go," Matthew said. "If its anything like the first two days, were going to have to keep making birdies." Hull also dropped a stroke on No. 9, her final hole of the day. The English player birdied Nos. 6-8 and had five birdies in a seven-hole stretch before closing with her lone bogey of the week. "Hitting it pretty straight," Hull said. "Hit my irons good and holing some good putts. Missing a few putts, but youre always going to miss a few putts when youre playing well. But Im just excited about this golf course. I quite like it." Hull won a Ladies European Tour event in Morocco in March a week before her 18th birthday. She closed with a 9-under 62 and won on the first hole of a playoff. The teen is comfortable in the warm conditions in Mobile. "The weathers been pretty hot, but I quite like it," Hull said. Michael Hoomanawanui Jersey. "I think its a great place and its very green and a bit different than I expected. The trees are a lot different, but I enjoy it a lot." Anna Nordqvist, Jessica Korda and Hee Young Park were 10 under. Nordqvist, the winner in Thailand and Carlsbad, had a 66. Korda, the Bahamas champion, shot 67, and Park had a 66. "I got the ball close and was able to kind of make a couple putts on my front nine, which was the back nine," Korda said "Hopefully, I can keep that momentum going." Park, playing alongside Matthew, eagled the par-5 16th for the second straight day. Kraft Nabisco winner Lexi Thompson and Jenny Shin were 9 under. Thompson had a 65, and Shin shot 68. Second-ranked Stacy Lewis, No. 4 Suzann Pettersen and three-time Mobile winner Se Ri Park topped the group at 8 under. Lewis, the 2012 champion who won the North Texas LPGA Shootout three weeks ago, matched Pettersen with a 70. Pak, the 2010 winner who also won the Tournament of Champions at the course in 2001 and 2002, had a 69. Michelle Wie, the winner in Hawaii, was 7 under. She followed her opening 71 with a 66. Top-ranked Inbee Park missed the cut with rounds of 74 and 76, ending her cuts streak at 22. She had 34 putts in the second round and played her final nine in 4-over 40. The South Korean star is winless in nine tour starts this season after sweeping the first three majors last year and finishing the season with six victories. NEW YORK -- Atlanta Braves pitchers have always had a knack for being good at the plate, as well as on the mound. Craig Mager Jersey . Mike Minor is the newest member of the club as he showed off his arm and his bat Thursday night in a 6-1 win over the New York Mets. "It was fun to have a night like this hitting and pitching," he said. Minor (6-8) had an RBI single in the second for the games first run. He doubled and scored in the eighth, then took a two-hit shutout into the bottom half. "At one point of the game he was everything," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "He pitched well, drove in a run, (had) a double. He was not only pitching well, he was our offence for six innings." Minor was perfect for four innings before Lucas Duda led off the fifth with a single that just barely touched the glove of leaping shortstop Andrelton Simmons. "Today I thought his curveball was probably his best pitch, other than commanding his fastball," Gonzalez said. "He had a nice mix going and good for him. Young man earlier in the year had some tough luck and I think hes progressing in the right direction." In his previous start, Minor took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning against Cincinnati. Before that, Minor had given up three earned runs or more in nine of his previous eleven starts. "Any day you face the Braves youre going to face a pretty good pitcher," Mets third baseman David Wright said. "He threw a lot of fastballs -- some were straight, some cut and some sank. His fastball command was excellent." Wright was 0 for 4 in his return to the lineup after missing two games with a muscle spasm on the right side of his neck. Minor gave up four hits, struck out five and walked none. The Mets did not have a runner in scoring position until Travis dArnaud opened the eighth with a double. Eric Campbell followed with an RBI single, ending Minors night. Jonathon Niese (7-10) only allowed one run until Minor and the Citi Field wind helped Atlanta score twice in the eighth. Minor led off the eighth with his fifth career double, a ball that the wind carried over the head of right fielder Curtis Granderson. Emilio Bonifacio hit a triple to centre field that was also helped by the wind, and scored on Freddie Freemans single. Pinch-hitter Ryan Doumit had a two-run, wind-aided, homer onto the bridge beyond the wall in right-centre field in a three-run ninth. Doumit connected off Daisuke Matsuzaka, who came off the disabled list before the game. Bonifacio also had a run-scoring single for his fourth hit. He drove in two runs and stole a base. Tre Boston Jersey . Murray, the defending champion and No. 3 seed, claimed his first match win at Queens in 2005 and went on to win the Wimbledon warmup three times. But he failed to take advantage of eight set points after leading the first-set tiebreaker 6-2, and Stepanek survived to convert with his second set point. Dan Fouts Jersey . Orlov, who scored two goals in the game, was assessed a major penalty for boarding on the play. The Flyers scored once on the power play and again with the extra attacker with 65 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. It may only be September, but the prospects are already on the road to the 2014 NHL Draft. Watching them over the past year - and in some cases, two years - has given us a starting point for this seasons Craigs List. This year begins with Sam Reinhart and Aaron Ekblad in the top two spots, followed by William Nylander, the son of former NHL player, Michael Nylander. A debate will surely ensue about a forward versus a defenseman being selected first overall and it is one that is a worthy one, once again because the players are so good. We begin with 30 players, even though the 2014 draft will seee only 29 players selected in the first round given the fact that the New Jersey Devils must forfeit their first round pick because of the Ilya Kovalchuk contract situation. Joey Bosa Jersey. These are the players I feel most comfortable with at this point in time. There are some players I have not seen - and I will not rank players that I havent seen or do not have a comfort level because of too few viewings. The beginning of the season will allow me to see those players and with the second Craigs List in October, it will be an expanded seventy-five player list. OAKLAND, Calif. Cooper Kupp Jersey . -- Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson says Jermaine ONeal will start in place of injured centre Andrew Bogut for Game 1 of their opening-round playoff series at the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. Jackson said Friday that he wants ONeal to start because its easier for the 35-year-old veteran to stay loose. He also says ONeal provides a similar skillset to Bogut, who is out indefinitely with a fractured right rib. The Warriors will use smaller lineups with David Lee or Marreese Speights at centre and Draymond Green or Harrison Barnes at power forward when ONeal is not in the game. ONeal averaged 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in 44 games this season, his 18th in the NBA. He sat out 25 games following surgery on his right wrist in December and also missed time with injuries to his right foot, groin and both knees. John Johnson Jersey . Ciaran Hearn also had two tries, and Pritchard led both teams with 27 points on the day. Hearn broke through Portugals line to score the first try just over 10 minutes into the game, and Pritchard scored his first try 10 minutes later to extend Canadas lead. Pritchard added six more points for via two penalty kicks before Portugal responded with their first points of the game, from fullback Pedro Leal. Pritchard claimed his second try of the game in the closing moments of the half to give Canada a 25-3 lead heading into the break. The fullback opened the second-half scoringg with a penalty kick. Lamarcus Joyner Jersey. Nick Blevins added another try for Canada and Hearn scored his second of the game. Canadas Kyle Gilmour and Djustive Sears-Duru both received their first international mens caps for Canada against Portugal, as they came on as replacements for John Moonlight and Hubert Buydens, respectively. PORTLAND, Ore. Curt Schilling Jersey . -- Timbers coach Caleb Porter didnt stray from his business-like approach to the season even after Portland downed the two-time defending league champion Los Angeles Galaxy to gain crucial playoff position. "First thing I said was, Weve still got work to do," he said of his postgame address. The 1-0 victory Sunday solidified Portlands hold on third place in the Western Conference with a 12-5-13 record and four matches to go. Portland is undefeated in its last four matches as it continues its bid for its first post-season appearance since joining Major League Soccer in 2011. Maximiliano Urruti gave Portland the win with his first MLS goal, a deftly executed flick in the 52nd minute that fooled Los Angeles goalkeeper Jaime Penedo. Urruti was acquired by the Timbers this month from Toronto FC, which had signed him in August from Argentinas top division Newells Old Boys. Galaxy forward Robbie Keane appeared to score the equalizer early in stoppage time but he was called offsides. Both Keane and Landon Donovan had an animated argument with officials while coach Bruce Arena shouted from the sidelines. Arena also confronted the referees on the field after the match. Afterward, Arena was diplomatic. "Its close, obviously. If hes (the linesman) right, credit to him," Arena said. "Weve been in a lot of games this year where the plays arent even close and they dont have them right. So if he had it right, more credit to him." Los Angeles (13-11-6) remained in fourth place in the West with the loss. The Galaxy are winless in their last four matches. Donovan returned to Los Angeles starting lineup after nursing a sprained left ankle that kept him out of the teams last MLS match, a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders last weekend. But his streak of either a goal or an assist in seven straight matches was snapped against the Timbers. He had a dangerous free kick from the side in the 74th minute, but it was headed away by Portland defender Pa-Modou Kah. The match was played in a nearly constant downpour with gusty wind as the remnants of a Pacific typhoon rolled through the region. And it looked as though it was weighing on both teams. The Timbers had just two shots on goal in the first half, compared to seven for the Galaxy. But Portland increasingly challenged Penedo after the break. Shortly after Urrutis goal, Rodney Wallace fired a hard shot at Penedo, who dove and deflected it with his fingertips. Urruti was making just his fifth appearance in a league match. He played in two matches for Toronto before coming to the Timbers. Portland was coming off a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids last weekend. "These last two games we knew were very important," Timbers defender Jack Jewsbury said. "A week ago they were ahead of us and we knew these were going to be crucial matches for us to be in the playoffs and try and position ourselves. We feel good about it, but theres still some work to do." The Timbers and Galaxy played to a scoreless draw in Los Angeles on June 19, and the Timbers earned a 2-1 victory in Portland on July 13. Custom Arizona Diamondbacks Jerseys Robbie Ray Jersey . Down 2-1 after Rick Nash scored on a penalty shot, the Oilers ran off four unanswered goals in the remainder of the second period on the way to a 6-3 victory on Sunday.Drew Willy had the Winnipeg Blue Bombers out to a blazing start. The rebuilt team had the highest scoring offence through the first three weeks of the season, and an undefeated record to boot. Now, following a near-abysmal Week 4 offensive performance in their first loss of the season, Winnipegs first-year starting quarterback is placing the blame squarely upon his own shoulders. "I think anytime you have only three points, its one of those things that you take it personally as the quarterback," said Willy as he prepared for Fridays matchup in Vancouver against the 2-2 B.C. Lions. "Thats your job. Your job is to always take — no matter what happens out there it should really always be on you. We each had our part in it, but I mean, its definitely one of those things where its my job to make sure were productive and make sure we get going as an offence. Taking responsibility is not a huge thing for me. I always tried to do that in my past." The Bombers were held to just 209 yards of net offence in their 26-3 loss at home to the Edmonton Eskimos. After studying the game film, Willy feels he could have been a touch more patient on some plays. "There were definitely times I wish I would have stayed on a few receivers a little bit longer. It kind of opened up a little bit later than I thought it would. Its just one of those things where I need to trust what were doing on offence and go from there." "Its never going to be a perfect game in your reads and everything." After allowing five sacks to the Eskimos defence, some will immediately look to an area of weakness from last season — the offensive line — as the reason to why the Bombers offence struggled. While Willy was often hurried and harassed by the Esks last week, he doesnt see his line protection as the overriding issue. "Weve done some good things. We were throwing the ball. We were basically averaging just under 300 yards the first three games. Obviously there was some good protection there for me to be able to throw for that kind of yardage. Its just one of those games last week that it just wasnt all on the O-line. It was all twelve of us and we each took our part. You could look at drives and one play its one guy, and one play its another. One play its me. Its just all around, so we just need to consistently be on the same page on offence and make sure we dont have thosse mental mistakes. Yasmany Tomas Jersey. ." After a breakout 122 rushing yard performance in Week 1, and three TDs on the ground in Week 2, rookie tailback Nic Grigsby had only 17 rushing attempts in the following two games for a total of 84 yards. The quarterback knows the importance of getting the running game going again if he wants his offence to succeed. "To get (Grigsby) going would be great for us. Hes a dynamic player," added Willy. "If we can get him the ball in the running game or pass game — we just need to get him some touches. Any time you run the ball well, in my past experiences in this league, it definitely increases your chances of winning." NOTES: Rookie starting safety Moe Leggett returns this week after missing two games with an ankle injury ... Linebacker and defensive back Johnny Sears has been ruled out this week with a hamstring pull. He was listed as questionable throughout the week as he worked to get healthy for the game ... Defensive end Jason Vega is another veteran hit to the Bombers D corps as the former NFLer is out this week due to injures referred to by Mike OShea as "various what-nots" ... Rookie kicker Lirim Hajrullahu will take on all kicking and punting duties following Mike Renauds hamstring injury suffered in pre-game warm-ups last week ... Returner Aaron Woods returns to the active roster after a two week absence where the team used Paris Cotton and Demond Washington on kick and punt returns. Cotton has been placed on the one-game injured list ... The club has decided to swap tackle Dan Knapp and guard Cordaro Howard. Howard moves over to the right tackle spot Friday night, and Knapp inside to left guard as Canadian starter Chris Greaves continues to recover from a knee injury suffered in Week 3. Greaves practiced this week and may be ready to go by Week 6 ... Slotback Julian Feoli-Gudino missed practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week, but Mike OShea assured he will be good to go Friday night ... The team signed Canadian linebacker Kyle Jones on Monday. Jones is a true utility player who can play special teams, punt, kick, kickoff, snap, and hold. "The one thing he cant do is snap to himself, hold it, and kick his own field goal. But I havent asked him to do that so maybe he can," quipped OShea. Jones should work as a safety net with the Bombers only having one healthy kicker at the moment. Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys 2019 Jerseys From China Jerseys Wholesale Stitched Jerseys China Jerseys Wholesale ' ' '
SAN FRANCISCO -- Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched for his country, doing anything he could from afar to lift spirits in South Korea after all the lives lost during a devastating ferry accident. Nick Easton Jersey . Ryu stretched his road scoreless streak to 26 innings this season and 28 in all, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Thursday to avoid a sweep. "Its just a really unfortunate situation," Ryu said through an interpreter of the ferry accident back home. "I have a very heavy heart today. I thought if I could just win today and pitch well maybe it would give them a little brighter side to think about. Thats why I went out there and tried to do the best I could." Ryu (3-1) struck out three and walked one on a season-high 112 pitches in seven innings, helping his club move into a tie with the Giants atop the NL West at 10-6. The Giants played their seventh straight one-run game, their most since eight in a row in 1910, according to STATS. Yasiel Puig returned to the Dodgers starting lineup and went 1 for 4 with a strikeout. He dropped a routine fly ball in right early on but recovered to throw out Brandon Belt at second. He then made a nice over-the-head catch on the next batter and a running grab in shallow centre in the eighth with a runner on second. He said the ball hit his thumb area on the play he missed, and he didnt close his glove quickly enough. The Cuban star said before the game he will stay focused on baseball despite reports smugglers who got him out of his country threatened his life. He made two baserunning blunders in the season-opening series at Australia, then arrived late at Dodger Stadium for the home opener and was scratched. He vowed to remain focused on baseball and not the off-field issues "so those things that are happening dont torment me." Tim Federowicz hit an RBI single in the second to put the Dodgers ahead, and Adrian Gonzalez singled in a run in the fifth to chase Madison Bumgarner. Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to 12 games, adding an eighth-inning double. Former Giants closer Brian Wilson gave up a leadoff double to Ehire Adrianza but escaped the inning unscathed. Kenley Jansen gave up a two-out RBI single to Adrianza before finishing for his fifth save. Ryu had surrendered a career-high eight runs in a career-short two innings against the Giants in the Dodgers home opener April 4. "Kind of what we needed today for him to go seven and go back out there for the seventh," manager Don Mattingly said. "It worked out." With his bushy beard freshly shorn, Bumgarner (2-1) had a three-start winning streak against the Dodgers snapped with just his second loss in the past seven outings against Los Angeles. The left-hander allowed two runs, six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 4 1-3 innings but threw 99 pitches. "Not a whole lot went in our favour. Im not trying to change anything," Bumgarner said. "That was some of the best stuff Ive had so far. Its been tough getting deep into games right now." Los Angeles played without shortstop Hanley Ramirez, a day after he was hit by a pitch on the top of his left hand. The Dodgers said there is no fracture, and Ramirez said he had iced the hand eight times and planned to play Friday against Arizona to begin a 10-game homestand. NOTES: LHP Clayton Kershaw, on the DL with a strained muscle in his back, threw breaking balls off the mound and added velocity from his previous session. A rehab assignment is yet to be scheduled, nor any further tests at this time, Mattingly said. Kershaw will continue to throw every other day. ... Giants SS Brandon Crawford was given an extra day off to rest his tender right hamstring. He was available to play and took ground balls before the game. ... CF Angel Pagan didnt start because of knee soreness but appeared as a pinch-hitter. "He banged his knee into a wall a few days ago, so were giving him a break," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. ... OKLAHOMA CITY -- Russell Westbrook wouldnt say he wanted payback against Patrick Beverley. Myles Turner Jersey . His play said otherwise. During last years playoffs, Beverley dived for the ball and ran into Westbrooks right knee as a timeout was being called, causing the injury that ended Westbrooks season and cost him about half of this season. In their first meeting since the incident, Westbrook had 24 points, seven assists and four steals to help the Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Houston Rockets 106-98 on Tuesday night. Beverley finished with two points and five fouls in 25 minutes while being booed by a spirited crowd. His matchup with Westbrook highlighted a game filled with shoving, technical fouls, talking and even a flagrant foul. "Two great teams that want to win: Its that simple," Houstons James Harden, who scored 28 points, said. "When you get that anytime in the NBA, things are going to get physical." The chippiness started early. Beverley swiped the ball away from Westbrook after a timeout with 6:10 left in the first quarter. Beverley and Westbrook had to be separated, and Beverley issued a technical foul. Beverley and Westbrook got tangled up again about a minute later, but again, Westbrook kept his cool. Durant said Westbrooks ability to turn the energy into a strong performance was impressive. "He just went out there and played to win," Durant said. "Thats how Russell always plays -- with an edge, with that intensity, and tonight was no different." Beverley said he wasnt trying to get inside of Westbrooks head. "Thats how I play against everybody," he said. "No personal battles out there today. I had to go out there and fight and do what I do to try to help our team win a basketball game today." If anything, the intensity initiated by the Rockets worked against them. "I think if we just stick to what we do and do it to the best of our abilities, no matter whats going on, well be good," Harden said. "Sometimes we kind of veer off, kind of get distracted a little bit." Durant scored 42 points and Serge Ibaka had 12 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks for the Thunder, who had lost two straight. Chandler Parsons scored 19 and Dwight Howard had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets. Houston had won five straight, including victories over Miami, Indiana and Portland. Westbrook blew past him for a layup, then lost him on a screen and made a 3-pointer to put the Thunder up 49-32. Howard committed his third and fourth fouls in the first two minutes of the third quarter, and Beverley committed his fourth with 8:52 left in the third as the Thunder maintained control. Thats 1,230 in total to cover the regular season. The man is Corey Sznajder, a soft-spoken 23-year-old Salisbury University grad who lives in Annapolis, Maryland and has been charting zone entries and zone exits throughout the NHL. I love big projects, he said. No kidding. At the 2013 Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, I met Eric Tulsky, who presented research on the value of controlled zone entries (short answer: about twice as valuable to enter with control of the puck rather than dumping it in) and Sznajder had charted a couple hundred games that were included in that study.ATLANTA -- The Cleveland Indians released pitcher Brett Myers on Thursday, cutting ties with a huge free-agent bust. The right-hander signed a $7 million, one-year contract in January but battled injuries and departed the Indians without winning a game. He went 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance before going on the disabled list April 20 with a strained tendon in his elbow. He didnt pitch again for Cleveland. The Indians, who began Thursday four games back in the AL wild-card race, announced before facing the Atlanta Braves that Myers had been reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and released from his contract, which included an $8 million club option for 2014 the team had no intention of picking up. He is now a free agent and can sign with any team. "To his credit, boy, he plugged away," manager Terry Francona said. "He could have shut it down multiple times. He never did. He was getting antsy because he felt like he was getting ready to help us. And because hed had such a long layoff, we wanted to see him pitch some more." That wasnt going to happen with the Indians contending for their first playoff appearance since 2007. So, not wanting to risk losing someone off the 40-man roster if Myers was activated, general manager Chris Antonetti decided to let the pitcher go. The timing gives him a few days to pursue other opportunities before teams are alllowed to expand their big league rosters for the final month of the regular season. Andre Gomes Jersey. "Maybe he can find a spot in the big leagues, as opposed to waiting until after teams call people up," Francona said. "I think that shows a lot of class on Chriss part." Clearly hurting, Myers struggled mightily during his brief time on the Cleveland staff. He gave up 29 hits -- including 10 homers -- in 21 1-3 innings. "He could have gone home any time. We would have never questioned it. But he kept plugging," Francona said. "It just wasnt coming out to the point where (there was a spot available). Were going to have some call-ups and if we end up taking some kid off the roster or losing some kid we dont want to lose, thats tricky. I didnt really know how we were going to find the innings to see how he was pitching, you know what I mean? Its kind of hard." Myers spent the majority of his career as a starter before pitching in relief for Houston and the Chicago White Sox in 2012. He signed with the Indians largely because they offered a chance to start again, penciling him in their rotation behind Justin Masterson and Ubaldo Jimenez. The 33-year-old Myers has reached double digits in wins six times and pitched at least 200 innings three times, most recently in 2011 when he won 14 games. Over a 12-year career, he is 97-96 with 40 saves and a 4.25 ERA. Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys 2019 Jerseys From China Jerseys Wholesale Stitched Jerseys China Jerseys Wholesale ' ' '
